Endless running games are a genre that is not going to go away anytime soon, certainly not 2D ones, which started this genre off awhile back. High Voltage Software have thrown their hat onto the path with Le Vamp, not just another endless runner though, but something slightly different. Maybe different enough to warrant a resurgence in this field.
“There are a whole lot of infinite runner games out there and most of them play pretty much the same, but we felt that there was more that could be done with the genre.” said Kerry J. Ganofsky, CEO and founder of High Voltage Software. “Our moment of inspiration came when we realized that the player should protect Le Vamp, rather than control him.”
In Le Vamp, players are not controlling the little vampire that just wants to play, they are interacting with the environment- dropping tress across creeks to create bridges, throwing pigs at the escaping vampire so he can “feed” and have power and so on. This is something unique for sure, it remains to be seen if it will be enough, though any innovation at this point is greatly appreciated.
