New Point and Click Adventure A Near Dawn Launched on Kickstarter

A Near Dawn is a brand-new point and click adventure that was created in a similar vein as Broken Sword and Monkey Island. Let’s look at what is interesting about this new game seeking crowdfunding support. First, the graphics are brand new, original, along with a fully voiced story to help keep you interested. Great start so far. Billed as a dark humorous psychological thriller, A Near Dawn is certainly shaping up to be an interesting indie game.

From the Kickstarter campaign;

When Seattle-based attorney, Sam Nichols – a victim to some disturbing psychological difficulties – takes on an important new case, he finds himself exposed to progressively dire circumstances that threaten to unravel his reality and destroy those closest to him. With his mentor’s firm on the brink of collapse, Sam will have to take on a ruthless multinational corporation defended by some of the vilest people imaginable. The odds already seem out of favor, but you will soon learn that things were never as they appeared – as an even deeper conspiracy begins to emerge. Where will you find yourself if you keep untangling the threads to this mystery? You must be brave to uncover the truth!”

This sounds like it has a bit of real world X-Files mixed in just for fun. I say that because the story seems to be one of those that just gets deeper as you dig, until you can no longer see daylight. Personally, I like stories like that – ones that are just twists and turns and challenges abound.

Looking at the Kickstarter page, I can see they reference such dark reference material as Twin Peaks, Steins;Gate, Blackwell and more. A Near Dawn has some big shoes to fill but based on the early content that is available, they are well on their way to completing that goal and having a massive impact on point and click games.

Grab the official demo, a prologue, on Google Play, and Steam(Linux, Macintosh, and Windows platforms).
