Oddworld New n Tasty Launches on Android

Oddworld New n Tasty

Retro gaming fans, where are you? Who remembers Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee on the Sony PlayStation console? For the few of you reading this that do no remember that title, it is high on your required gaming at your early convenience (eBay is a good option to make that happen). Well, not one to rest on their laurels too long, Oddworld Inhabitants Inc. have a new Oddworld game, New ‘n’ Tasty out now for Android.

As mentioned by our friends over on Android Police, the first game in the Oddworld series is weirdly absent from the Google Play store (though you can get Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath and Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee). Don’t let that stop you from enjoying what is available of the Oddworld games though because they are quite good.

You play as Abe, a Mudokon who fate has picked to stand up and stop the horrifying actions of his boss – Molluck the Glukkon. It seems Molluck has a taste for Mudokons, as in turning them into tasty treats. Abe cannot stand idly by as this happens and with your help, it will not go on for long. As you play through the levels you must save all Mudokon you come across – and a few you are going to have to search out.

Physical controllers are supported, somewhat. Apparently, the key mapping is not what it could be so be prepared for a bit of frustration in that department if you decide to embark on this quest.

Look, we don’t get a lot of these style games anymore. There once was a time when 2D side scrolling adventures ruled the roost – those days are long gone. We, as gamers, must support companies giving us games that we love the way we like them (without the IAP for instance). Want more like this? Get past the price and show some support.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty by Oddworld Inhabitants Inc.
Platform: Android (NOT compatible with the GPD XD)
Genre: 2D action, adventure, puzzle
In App Purchases: No, pay once and done
