iOS Freebie Friday for February 7th, 2014

Everyone likes getting games for free so it is a no brainer to make a list such as this available.  Apple has done things right with iTunes by allowing developers/publishers to offer their games for free for limited amounts of time (hello Google).  Here is the latest Freebie Friday list:

Mystic Marbles to Debut on iTunes App Store January 9th

New puzzle games, particularly those of the Bejeweled persuasion are nothing new. There are so many available that new games in this genre need to have something unique to entice fans to try new games. Mystic Marbles has a few tricks up its sleeve.

Android Saturday Sales for December 21st, 2013

While Android gamers are used to not getting “freebie” sales, they do get a good amount of games discounted for sales throughout the month. There are some repeat members on this list but there is also a fair amount of newcomers to check out at a discounted price.

Android Sale Saturday for November 23rd 2013

Since Google has yet to implement an option for publishers to offer their apps and games for free on a limited time basis.  This is possibly going to change since they are allowing magazine publishers to do just that.  Though it is not in place for anything outside of their “newstand” we feel it is […]

Review: Hexic Rush on Windows Phone 8

Hexic Rush is an updated version of the original puzzle game, Hexic, that has been available on most mobile phones and Windows PC’s for years.  Originally created by Alexey Pajitnov, of Tetris fame, Hexic Rush hides it addictiveness behind a simple looking multi colored screen that beckons the player on.

Review: Jewel Quest on iOS

Jewel Quest is not a new title, at least the series has been around for awhile, though iWin has decided to start recycling game names.  Here gamers are treated to a quest style game in the same vein as Candy Crush Saga, right down to the linear path, in app purchases for power-ups and a […]

Jewel Quest Re-Imagines Itself in the Shadow of Candy Crush Saga

Jewel Quest is one of those Match 3 titles that has been around for a long time, is really fun and hard as nails. Back before we had In App Purchases, we had to actually replay levels, do whatever good luck charm/motion/activity we could think of and just give the level that good old college […]

Herocraft Releases The Enchanted Kingdom: Elisa’s Adventure on iOS

We covered this title on Android awhile back, and now we are covering the iOS versoin. How is that for a switch? Android players got the game first. Anyhow, Herorcaft have shown they are a quality game developer and publisher and Enchanted Kingdom just furthers that image.

Review: Tetris Blitz on Android (Get Tetrisized All Over Again)

Anyone that was a gamer from the early 80′s onward probably remembers when Tetris was released on the original Game Boy (the pea salad green screen version).  Tetris was THE first portable selling game ever- thanks to Nintendo smartly packaging the game with the system.  Yes, back then when you bought a system you got […]

Review: Dungeon Story on iOS (Looks Like Bejeweled but It’s Not)

When I first grabbed Dungeon Story, I expected another Bejeweled clone mixed with some basic RPG elements, ala Puzzle Quest.  Nope.  What is here, visually, is quite a bit less than PQ and many other similar games.  As we all know though, there is more to gaming than the graphics and here, Dungeon Story comes up […]

zookeeper battle

Review: Zookeeper Battle by Kiteretsu on the Zeepad 7″ ICS Android Tablet

Zookeeper originally was an innovative puzzle game that added new things to the casual puzzle mix and now, we have online multiplayer with players around the world but we had to sacrifice some things to get it.  Battling players around the world, even in different languages is pretty awesome (this is achieved through only offering […]

Bejeweled in Tights, Spandex Force: Superhero U Released

It is pretty much a standard of sorts that all portable devices have at least one Bejeweled clone, iOS  and Android have hundreds (we have a couple getting the review treatment sooner than later).  For us here at Gaming on Batteries to cover it, a Bejeweled style game has to have something unique about it […]

Review: Mahjong Land by NuriGames Inc on the Zeepad 7″ ICS Android Tablet

Tile matching titles are everywhere on Android and iOS, the most prevalent are Bejewelled clones but there is another matching game that is older- Mahjong/Shanghai.  There isn’t much that can be done to the base gameplay to change things up without breaking the formula for these types of games that has worked since their inception. […]

Review: Pizza Shop Mania by Digital Chocolate on the Zeepad 7″ Android Tablet

Time management games are all over the mobile market, almost as prolific as Bejeweled clones are.  We have seen sushi bars, restaurants, nightclubs and many other facets of general life hit the time management trail, now we have pizzarias in Pizza Shop Mania (missed opportunity for advertising include Little Caesar’s, Pizza Hut and Dominoes just […]
