These standards set out how Gaming On Batteries decides what to publish, and what we refuse to publish. They apply to every buying guide, comparison and how-to on the site.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by our editors alone. No manufacturer, retailer or advertiser sees an article before it goes live, and none can ask us to soften or change a verdict.
Sources and numbers
A source, for us, is something a reader could check: a manufacturer spec sheet or support document, a measurement published by an independent review outlet or lab, or a consistent pattern across owner reports. Primary sources come first, so a battery capacity is taken from the manufacturer rather than a retailer listing. We do not publish numbers without a source.
When two outlets report different runtimes or wattages for the same model, we give the range, explain likely causes such as different power profiles or screen brightness, and avoid simply picking whichever figure flatters the product.
Update cadence
We aim to review our main buying guides every few months, and sooner when a new generation of laptops or handhelds arrives, a firmware update changes power behavior, or a reader flags something. Each revised article carries its update date.
How AI is used
AI tools help with research, outlines and first drafts. People edit the result and verify every factual claim. AI is never allowed to supply specs, battery figures or performance results on its own; if a number cannot be traced to a source, it is cut.
No paid placement
Brands cannot pay to be included in a list, to move up a ranking or to be described more favorably. We do not publish sponsored rankings. Affiliate commissions are disclosed and have no bearing on order or inclusion.
Conflicts of interest
We currently do not accept review units or free samples in exchange for coverage. If that ever changes, or if we form any relationship with a brand we write about, we will disclose it in the relevant article.

Readers can report errors through our contact page. Confirmed corrections are made promptly and reflected in the article’s update date.
